Description

For employers, the impact of mental health conditions on their organizations is substantial and has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Employers have a unique opportunity to improve the mental health of the 158 million U.S. working adults who spend more time engaged in work than in any other activity apart from sleeping. This presentation focuses on how digital technologies have the potential to revolutionize mental health treatment and considerations for evaluating different products especially with regards to adoption by employers.

Stephen Schueller, PhD Related Seminars and Products

Dr. Schueller is an Associate Professor of Psychological Science and Informatics at the University of California, Irvine where he directs the Technology and Mental Health (TEAM) Lab, a member of UCI’s Connected Learning Lab. He is also an Adjunct Associate Professor of Preventive Medicine at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine. Dr. Schueller received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California, Riverside, and his PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco in the Clinical Psychology Training Program as part of the Public Service and Minority Cluster at San Francisco General Hospital. 

Dr. Schuller’s research focuses on increasing the accessibility and availability of mental health resources through the use of technology, which includes the development, evaluation, and implementation of web- and mobile-based interventions for common mental health issues. In addition to support from One Mind, he has pursued his research with funding from the National Institute of Mental Health, the Jacobs Foundation, Pivotal Ventures, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. He has received Rising Star Awards from the Association for Psychological Science and the International Society for Research on Internet Interventions, and a Mid-Career Investigator Award from the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies Technology Special Interest Group.
