Description

Many leaders report feeling unprepared to open the dialog about mental health.   In some workplaces, mental health is not being addressed properly which leads to decreased engagement, productivity, absenteeism, presenteeism, accidents, errors, and turnover.  With 1 in 5 people living, and working, with a mental health condition, it’s imperative that we are all prepared to identify the signs, open a safe dialog, and crosswalk an employee to services.

This presentation teaches the impact of unaddressed mental health, signs and symptoms, the power of peer support and person-centered language, how to decrease stigma, and create a ‘safe’ culture in the workplace, where everyone feels ‘safe’ speaking openly about mental health, without fear of judgment, retribution, or job loss.

Lives and the bottom line depend on it.

Kim was a top performing professional who suffered, in silence, with depression, anxiety, alcohol misuse, and intense suicidal thoughts.  She feared judgment, retribution, job loss, and damaging her professional integrity, if she spoke openly and acknowledged that she needed help.  As a result, she remained silent and almost lost her life.

A conversation with an observant leader was the turning point that changed,
and saved, her life.
